Laser Ultrasonics 2018
In July 2018, ACCURATe project partners Innolas and RECENDT attended and presented at the 6th International Symposium on Laser Ultrasonics (LU2018). This symposium brought together world leading researchers in Laser Ultrasonics, Phononics and light-matter-sound interactions and is dedicated to the latest scientific results, methodological and technological advancements, and applications of Laser Ultrasound.
The symposium was organised by the IOP Physical Acoustics group and was hosted by
University of Nottingham in the UK. Project partner RECENDT provided two
presentations to delegates at the symposium:
"Industrial use cases of laser
ultrasound" was presented by Bernhard Reitinger
and "Robotized Laser-Ultrasonic NDT
system for large aircraft structures Norbert Huber:
In addition to presenting at the symposium, Innolas also exhibited
their high power nanosecond-pulsed laser technology:

ACCURATe project presentation
Last month RECENDT's Norbert Huber gave a presentation about the ACCURATe project on the
ECNDT2018 in Göteborg.
The title was "Robotized
Laser-Ultrasonic NDT system for large aircraft structures". Here's a photo from the presentation, which was well received by industry experts from around the world:

European Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (ECNDT)
RECENDT will be making a presentation on the ACCURATe project, on behalf of the project partners, at the 12th annual European Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (ECNDT). The conference will take place from the 11th – 15th June 2018 at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg, Sweden.
TWI Ltd will also be in attendance and
exhibiting at the conference – we look forward to seeing you there!

ACCURATe six-monthly project progress meeting
In late January, the project partners gathered together at RECENDT premises in Linz, Austria for the first six-monthly meeting to discuss project progress. In addition to development of the project website and draft dissemination and exploitation plan, significant progress has been made with the detection system and some tests have already been performed on the samples sent by the Topic Manager. Images from initial tests (using samples with machined flaws) were presented and discussed at the meeting.
A basic design of the measurement head has been completed and RECENDT and Innolas are continuing to work closely together to develop the design of the excitation and detection lasers to meet the project requirements.
Kuka have developed a basic layout for the robot cell and a finalised design layout is expected in early March, following receipt of the final test specimen dimensions.
